I am a GLP-1 stalker. Reading everything I come across on the topic. I’m hoping my Dr. will prescribe one for me and really hoping insurance will cover it. Thank you for posting on your journey. I appreciate it.

Hoping is not a strategy. Get with your HR people or agent and push. Only about 30% of covered people actually have obesity coverage.

Most doctors recognize that obesity is more destructive and dangerous than the alternatives. You don’t need a doctor that puts his agenda ahead of your health. There are also obesity specialists. It’s just like a pulmonologist or a cardiologist. Go there if there’s issues or conflicts. There’s also alternative sources for these meds. LillyDirect for name brand meds or any of hundreds of telehealth providers.

Do your research now. Find backup plans. Stay determined. It’s a strange space. Access is the biggest challenge right now. Shortages, competition, multiple markets, corporate wars. It’s weird. Join some GLP groups on Facebook to team with real users and doctors for guidance and support. Good luck.

This is a very good point. It’s like trading one thing for another. For me, the food noise is turned off but I still think a lot about getting the nutrients in while staying in a calorie deficit. Instead of feeling desperate to eat all the time, I am trying to put together the daily puzzle of making sure I get the right amount of protein, fiber, and water.
